Q: Why can't GIGO see my netmail?
Q: Why can't GIGO see my echomail?
A: GIGO only understands *.PKT files. If you can not convince
your mail processor to generate *.PKT files, you may find that
the "NETMGR" program is helpful. This is particularly true of
people running FrontDoor ;-).
NETMGR will scan your netmail directory, and convert any messages
into *.PKT's. It will also move your file attaches for you
(you'll still have to uncompress your mail bundles, if your
mail processor does not support uncompressed mail).
People running Binkley/Squish have it easy; if your
gateway's address is 1:2/3, add to your ROUTE.CFG:
SEND HOLD NOARC 1:2/3
which tells Squish to not compress any echomail or netmail to that
address.
People running in other environments, might consider joining
the GIGO mailing list and asking for help, to see if anyone
else is running the same combination as yourself.
Once again: GIGO only understands *.PKT files. It reads
*.PKT's, and writes *.PKT's. That simple. ;-)
